THE BLACKLIST CLUB

Eat My Shorts
With the WWF "salvaging" Mabel by bringing him back this past weekend, I got to thinking. There are certain wrestlers in this industry who have been blacklisted. In other words, neither the WWF or WCW is interested in signing them, for whatever reason. Well, today, I am going to discuss some of the top Blacklisted wrestlers right now, and analyze the benefits or consequences of bringing them in, to either one of the big two. You could also call them free agents. I will then give them a percent. This percent determines how good of a chance they would have to make it big again, if they were ever hired by the big two.
-SID
This guy has had more ups and downs than a rollercoaster. This is basically Sid's story. You bring him in, he's the most popular wrestler in the company, his popularity fades, he fakes an injury, next thing you know, it's April and he "retires" so he can play softball. But perhaps the WWF is partially to blame. When they brought him back in mid 1996, he was without a doubt, the most over wrestler in the WWF. But then Mcmahon started matching him up against face after face after face, since at that time, there were no strong heels in the WWF. A benefit from hiring him is that he has NAME VALUE and STAR POWER. He's not over the hill. He stays in shape. He's good on the mic when he's motivated. And most importantly, HE IS OVER. Sid practically invented the powerbomb, and the crowd pops like crazy when he executes it. A consequence of bringing him in, is that he will fake injuries, sustain lots of real injuries, and right around April he always seems to need some time off, in which he ends up playing softball. He has a bad back and a bad neck, which has forced him to "retire" on numerous occasions. Sid hasn't had a history of no-showing in the big two. He has just garnered a no-showing reputation when it comes to indy dates. However, if the money motivates him enough, he won't no-show. I say bring him in and give him another chance.........85% chance
-AHMED JOHNSON
Ahmed is a little like Sid, but worse. He can't wrestle. He can't interview. But he was a huge star in the Shawn Michaels WWF era, so he too has name value. If the WWF were to bring him in, they should have him go against the Ministry. Undertaker needs someone to feud with, and these 10 minute rituals are going nowhere fast. Ahmed has been gone long enough, for the fans to forget about that heel-turn which ruined his career........60% chance
-MADUSA
WCW trashed their women's division, and Madusa had nowhere to go. She sure as hell couldn't go back to Mcmahon. Even though there was speculation that she would, it never came to fruition. She hasn't gotten any gigs in Japan recently. I'd call her blacklisted. A plus of bringing her in to the WWF, is that it would give Sable a more reputable opponent, than her upcoming feud with Terry Powers. Madusa is a great wrestler. The only downsides to bringing her in, are that she is getting older and we now know that she has no loyalty to the WWF. Of course she could go to WCW, now that Kevin Nash is lobbying for more women with on-camera roles. But she should go where the women's division is........80% chance
-VADER
Vader's old. Vader is lucky that a man of his size could wrestle until he was in his mid-40s. Anyways, Vader did the WWF thing, that little thing that destroyed his career. Apparently, Vince Mcmahon and Jim Ross forgot that Vader was SUPPOSED to be fat. Vader has very little chance of ever making it big again. His WWF contract doesn't run out until December, and by then he will be even older and more out of shape. But if he insists on wrestling when he's 44, he should go back to WCW. If WCW can tolerate his reoccurring injuries and his old-age(and God knows they tolerate enough of that already), then Vader could be good for a feud or two.........30% chance
-JIM NEIDHART
Neidhart is old too. He never really had any chance to make it big, without teaming with Bret Hart. Neidhart only has a chance to make it as big as he ever was, when he was a singles wrestler. The best thing for him to do, is sit out until WCW finally lets Bulldog go, then they both simultaneously sign with the WWF, and reform the Hart Foundation with Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett(maybe Jarrett). So Neidhart could be a good mid-carder once again, instead of a curtain jerker like he was in WCW........50% chance
-WARRIOR
Warrior has no chance in hell of ever returning to the WWF, let alone making it big there again. I was saying all along that WCW could have salvaged the Warrior by turning him heel and having him feud with Sting. Have Warrior wear black and white face paint. Warrior will never be over as a face again, unless some kind of weird retro phase sweeps the nation and fans start liking that kind of stuff again, but odds are in won't happen. Warrior is a steroid burnout, but he isn't as old as guys like Hogan and Savage. I'd say he has a great chance of making it as a heel in WCW.......90% chance
So there you have it. Some wrestlers who used to be blacklisted, but were eventually hired were Van Hammer and Bryan Adams. And a wrestle who is about to be blacklisted is Steven Regal. I'm waiting for the WWF to let him go any day now, and he won't be able to work in any big promotion. So I have a message for the big two. They're out there. Use your imagination. Bring em back. Diamonds are Forever and so is SUSHI-X.
